Zug 1601 groschen
This specimen was part of lot 5584 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), which sold for 120 CHF (about US$181 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ. Zug. Stadt und Kanton. Groschen 1601, Zug. Zwei Varianten, je 1x mit MONETA NOVA und 1x mit MONETA CIVI, beide ohne Münzzeichen. Groschen 1608. Lot von 3 Stück. Sehr schön. (Switzerland, city and canton of Zug, groschen of 1601, Zug mint, two varieties, one with "MONETA NOVA" and one with "MONETA CIVI" (shown here), and a groschen of 1608. Very Fine, three pieces.)"
A groschen was three kreuzer, hence the "3" marked on the reverse. This type is listed for 1597-1608 with the 1605 noted as a rare date. Some of the dates, including 1600, 1602 and 1606, are known in klippe format (KM 19).
