from the Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale, lot 24509

This specimen was lot 24509 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $360. The catalog description^[1] noted, "NETHERLANDS. Zeeland. Lion Daalder, 1615. NGC AU-55. Struck on a nice round flan, full legends on both sides, lustrous and attractive." Lion daalders were struck in most of the provinces that today make up the Netherlands. This type is recorded in the SCWC for 1606-18, 1622-40, 1644-58. Most dates are fairly common but choice specimens are rare as striking quality was low.
