This specimen was lot 4940 in Goldberg sale 74 (Los Angeles, June 2013), where it sold for $287.50 including buyer's fees. The catalog description[1] noted, "Netherlands - Zeeland. Lion Daalder, 1599. Swimming lion type. NGC graded VF-30." Lion daalders were struck in most of the provinces that today make up the Netherlands. This type, issued 1597-99, is closely related to that struck in Zeeland for 1606-1658.
