This specimen was lot 32451 in Heritage sale 3067 (Long Beach, September 2018), where it sold for $1,680. The catalog description[1] noted, "Zambia: Elizabeth II gold Proof "Lion Protection" 40000 Kwacha 2001 PR69 Ultra Cameo NGC. Wildlife protection series featuring a charming holographic Lion. Almost perfect, a charismatic issue with a unique style. This coin has seen no damage nor contact nor hardship of any kind in the 17 years since it was produced, hence its lofty technical grade. An essential addition for a collector of gold Wildlife coins." This denomination was also used in 2001 to issue several coin-themed NCLT's (KM 153).
