Steve Album sale 51, lot 3375

This specimen was lot 3375 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "YUGOSLAVIA: Peter II, 1934-1945, AR 50 dinara, 1938, an attractive example, PCGS graded MS62." This type was struck in the last years of the monarchy. Beset by economic collapse and ethnic conflicts, Peter's regent tried to navigate the stormy waters of late thirties European politics. The regent was ousted in March 1941 and Peter was given full powers; in April, the Nazis invaded and by the end of the month, Peter II was in exile in Cairo, never to return.
