This specimen was lot 3968 in Stephen Album sale 50 (Santa Rosa, CA, September 2024), where it sold for $192. The catalog description[1] noted, "YEMEN: al-Nasir Ahmad bin Yahya, 1948-1962, AR ahmadi riyal, AH1367, very lustrous and well struck, likely over a Maria Theresa thaler, AU." Shown is a silver one riyal of a type struck AH 1367-1381. No records exist defining the metal fineness, but it was most likely struck over a Maria Teresa thaler trade coin. The date, "١٣٦٧", is shown at 9 o'clock on the reverse.
Recorded mintage: unknown but the key date.
