This specimen was lot 58648 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $288. The catalog description[1] noted, "YEMEN. 1/4 Ahmadi Riyal, AH 1367 (1948). al-Nasir Ahmad bin Yahya (Imam Ahmad). NGC MS-67." Shown is a silver quarter riyal. It is dated AH 1367, but only the last two digits of the date appear on the reverse. It honors the ruler al-Nasir Ahmad bin Yahya, who took power in AH 1367/1948 AD after his father and predecessor Yahya bin Muhammad died in a coup attempt. This type is known dated AH 1367-1380. It was made from melted down Maria Theresia thalers.
