This specimen was lot 756 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $1,997.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Wurzburg. Taler, 1790-MP. Franz Ludwig von Erthal (1779-95). NGC MS-63. Light golden toning with some darker russet patches over highly lustrous surfaces. Small planchet fault below exergual line which can be seen on either side. From the Rockaway Collection." This one year type is slightly scarcer than the average thaler from this locale.
