Künker Auction 439, lot 2680

This specimen was lot 2680 in Künker sale 439 (Osnabrück, March 2026), where it sold for €7,000 (about US$9,630 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"REICHSSILBERMÜNZEN, WÜRTTEMBERG Karl, 1864-1891. 5 Mark 1874. In US-Plastikholder der NGC mit der Bewertung PF 63 (8585920-001). Äußerst selten in dieser Erhaltung. Polierte Platte, min. berührt. (kingdom of Württemberg, Charles, 1864-91, five mark of 1874. Graded NGC PF-63. Extremely rare in this quality, proof, lightly polished.)"

This type was struck 1874-76 and 1888. It is rather scarce compared to the succeeding type (Dav-964) and the 1888 is the scarcest date.

Recorded mintage: 113,000.

Specification: 27.77 g, 0.900 fine silver, 38 mm diameter, lettered edge.
