Künker sale 335, lot 4210

This specimen was lot 4210 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabruck, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €1,700 (about US$2,225 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"POMMERN, WOLGAST, STADT. Unter Schweden. Gustav II. Adolf, 1631-1632. 1/2 Reichstaler 1633, auf die Überführung seiner Gebeine nach Schweden. Münzmeister Hinrich Martens. RR Schöne Patina, min. Schrötlingsfehler am Rand, sehr schön +. (Germany, city of Wolgast in Pomerania, under Swedish rule, Gustavus Adolphus, 1631-32, half thaler of 1633, on the removal of the king's bones to Sweden. Rare, nice patina, edge defects, very fine or better.)"

This commemorative was struck 1633-34 on the death of the Protestant hero Gustavus Adolphus. The series included quarter thaler thru quadruple thaler and double ducat to sixty ducat.
