Westphalia 1808-J 3 centimes
This specimen was lot 1005 in Steve Album Auction 51 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2025), where it sold for $510. The catalog description[1] noted, "WESTPHALIA: Jérôme (Hieronymus) Napoleon, 1807-1813, AE 3 centimes, Paris, 1808, pattern type with horse head privy mark, a superb specimen quality example! PCGS graded Specimen 63 RB, ex Joe Sedillot Collection." This is a pattern for the circulation issue (KM 92, with "C" mintmark and only 4.15 g) which was struck in Cassel 1808-12. At the same time, traditional German denominations such as pfennig, mariengroschen and thalers were issued. At the Congress of Vienna, the area was restored to its former lords, Hannover and Prussia.
