Westfriesland 1678 2 stuivers
This specimen was lot 3648 in Stephen Album sale 39 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2021), where it sold for $144. The catalog description[1] noted, "WEST FRIESLAND: AR 2 stuivers, West Friesland, 1678, attractive mint state example! PCGS graded MS62." This type was struck with this mintmark 1653, 1670-79, 1685, 1689, 1700, 1702, 1707, 1709. Other mintmarks include KM 21.1 (1614-16, 1639, 1641, 1646) and KM 21.2 (1625, 1628). The second specimen was lot 1087 in Stephen Album internet sale 28 (Santa Rosa, CA, July 2024), where it sold for $60. The catalog description[2] noted, "NETHERLANDS: WEST FRIESLAND: AR 2 stuivers, 1678, struck by the private mint of Dirk Bosch in Enkhuizen, VG."
