This specimen was lot 495 in Schulman auction 379 (Amsterdam, June 2024), where it sold for €1,300 (about US$1,671 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"WEST-FRIESLAND Het Gewest 1581 - 1795. Dukaat. 1641, Gold Type I. Staande ridder met Spaanse helm, zwaard en pijlenbundel met zeven pijlen tussen jaartal, tekst tussen de voeten en met binnencirkel. ...WEST lelie. Kz. vierkant met 5-regelige tekst. Gladde rand.3.46 g. Deels originele muntkleur. Prachtig. (province of Westfriesland, gold ducat of 1641, type I. Obverse: standing knight in Spanish helmet holding a sword and bundle of arrows, lily mintmark; reverse: tablet with five line inscription; plain edge. Some original luster, extremely fine.)"

This type is recorded in the SCWC for 1607-12, 1619-24, 1631-75. The mintmark was changed from a lily (shown here) to a cinquefoil in 1649. A rare klippe version (KM 36) exists for 1637.

Recorded mintage: 351,050 for 1637-42.

Specification: 3.49 g, 0.986 fine gold.
