Wallmoden-Gimborn 1802 ducat Fr-3509
This specimen was lot 2446 in Sincona sale 33 (Zürich, October 2016), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,
"Wallmoden-Gimborn, Grafschaft. Johann Ludwig, 1782-1806 Dukat 1802. Hannover. Sehr selten. Sehr schön. Bearbeitet. (Germany, county of Wallmoden-Gimborn, John Louis, 1782-1806, ducat of 1802, Hannover mint. Very rare, Very fine, Tooled.)"
This tiny county was created for an illegitimate son of George II of England who was also elector of Hannover. This son, born in 1736, was a noted art collector and patron and issued this rare coin before his domain was mediatized.
