This specimen was lot 1152 in Stephen Album sale 43 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2022), where it sold for $204. The catalog description[1] noted, "VIET NAM: Socialist Republic, AR 100 đồng, 1996, Caracal, with colored enamel, NGC graded Proof 68 Ultra Cameo." Wikipedia comments, "The caracal (Caracal caracal) is a medium-sized wild cat native to Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and arid areas of Pakistan and northwestern India." It is not found in Vietnam outside of zoos so we don't know why it was selected for this NCLT.
Recorded mintage: unknown but all in proof.
Specification: 20 g, silver, 0.999 fine.
Catalog reference: KM-48.
