Stack's Bowers 2015 NYINC sale, lot 1207
Venice Stacks Jan15-1207r.jpg

This specimen was lot 1207 in Stacks-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Venice. Scudo (140 Soldi), ND (1636)-BB. Francesco Erizzo (1631-46). NGC MS-62. Light toning. Lustrous and very attractive." These scudi, like many Venetian coins, are not dated but, by judicious use of the mintmaster's initials, the date of issue may be narrowed to a few years, in this case, 1636. The type is not exorbitantly priced but is seldom seen.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 31.82 g, .948 fine silver.

Catalog reference: Dav-4249.
