This specimen was lot 33829 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $1,200. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold Proof 10000 Bolivares 1987 PR68 Ultra Cameo NGC, Caracas mint. A highly attractive example of this impressive modern gold issue with superb heavy cameo details and virtually no handling marks. Scarce in this most pleasant quality." This gold issue is the highest denomination minted prior to Chavez's Bolivarian republic and its accompanying hyperinflation.
