This specimen was lot 21985 in Heritage sale 3010 (Boston, August 2010), where it sold for $1,265. The catalog description[1] noted, "Republic gold 3000 Bolivares 1983, Proof 65 PCGS, 200th anniversary of the birth of Simon Bolivar. Nice cameo details." This coin, featuring the bicentennial of the birth of liberator Simon Bolivar, is another in a series of NCLT's (non-circulating legal tender coins) that began appearing in the early seventies. It was accompanied by a silver 100 bolivares (KM Y58). See also the Venezuela 1975 1000 bolivares.
