Steve Album sale 54, lot 2899

This specimen was lot 2899 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "VAUD: Canton, BI batzen, 1832-BEL, an incredible bright lustrous example, PCGS graded MS67." This type was struck 1826-34 and is common. Most dates, including this one, have the initials "BEL" on the plinth below the shield. After being temporarily unified under Napoleon's Helvetic Republic, the cantons went their separate ways after the Congress of Vienna and issued a torrent of low value coins. Not until 1850 would a unified confederation mint her own coins and terminate the local issues.

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 2.55 g, 0.160 fine silver, 25 mm diameter, plain edge.

Catalog reference: KM-20.
