Sincona sale 102, part of lot 5563

This specimen was part of lot 5569 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted,

"SCHWEIZ. Waadt/Vaud. Kanton. 2 1/2 Rappen 1816, Lausanne. 1 Rappen 1807. Beide Varianten der rückseitigen Wertzahl (unterhalb dem Kranzende bzw. zwischen dem Kranzende). Lot von 3 Stück. Vorzüglich-FDC. (Switzerland, Canton of Vaud, 2½ rappen of 1816 and two rappens of 1807, Lausanne mint, Extremely Fine-About Uncirculated, three pieces.)"

Formerly a Bernese bailiwick, Vaud joined the Swiss Confederation as an independent canton in 1803, at which time it began to issue coins. This type was struck 1807 only but is not rare. One thaler was forty batzen or 400 rappen.

Recorded mintage: 211,220 for 1804 and 1807.

Specification: 0.65 g, 0.040 fine silver, 14 mm diameter.
