Sincona sale 20, lot 3537

This specimen was lot 3537 in Sincona sale 20 (Zürich, October 2014), where it sold for CHF 350 (about US$439 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted, "5 Batzen 1807. Fast FDC. (choice uncirculated.)" Formerly a Bernese bailiwick, Vaud joined the Swiss Confederation as an independent canton in 1803, at which time it began to issue coins. This type is listed for 1807-14 and is not rare. Forty batzen made a thaler.
