This specimen was part of lot 31913 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), which sold for $1,080. The catalog description[1] noted, "Pius XII 9-Piece Uncertified Mint Set 1943 UNC, 1) 5 Centesimi, KM 31; 2) 10 Centesimi, KM 32; 3) 20 Centesimi, KM33; 4) 50 Centesimi, KM 34; 5) Lira, KM 35; 6) 2 Lire, KM 36; 7) 5 Lire, KM 37; 8) 10 Lire, KM 38; 9) gold 100 Lire, KM 39. Only 1,000 sets produced. All are uncirculated, with a single stray mark noted to the left of the figure on the 5 Lire issue. Sold as is, no returns. From the Engelen Collection of World Coinage." All of the coins in this set are scarce, wartime shortages reducing their production and distribution.
