Sincona sale 69, lot 900

This specimen was lot 900 in Sincona sale 69 (Zürich, May 2021), where it sold for 2,600 CHF (about US$3,451 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"THE NETHERLANDS | Utrecht, Provinz. Dukaton 1787, Utrecht. Zilveren rijder. Selten in dieser Erhaltung. Prachtexemplar. (Netherlands, province of Utrecht, ducaton of 1787, Utrecht mint, silver rider. Rare in this condition. NGC MS62, Cabinet piece.)"

The type was struck with a cabled edge 1739-94 or a flowered edge 1746-49, 1756-79. This example is likely to have a cabled edge.

Recorded mintage: 270,000 for 1786-87.

Specification: 32.78 g, 0.941 fine silver, this specimen 32.52 g.
