Heritage sale 3038, lot 35914

This specimen was lot 35914 in Heritage sale 3038 (Dallas, January 2015), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Utrecht. Provincial gold Stuiver 1778 MS63 NGC. An enchanting example of this scarcer gold type. With splendid full golden luster." The billon stuiver was struck irregularly 1738-39, 1760-65 but the gold stuiver is known for 1738-72, 1777-82, 1786-89. It likely circulated as a half ducat.

Specification: 0.81 g, 0.583 fine silver or 1.75 g, 0.986 fine gold (shown here).
