This type was struck in 1994 and 1998. Uruguayan coinage was sporadic in the twentieth century and many issues are rare; this one is common. It was struck in Buenos Aires under contract. It was struck again in Santiago in 1998. Uruguay fell victim to the same hyperinflation which befell her neighbors Argentina and Brazil and the coinage was reformed twice. The example shown was minted after the coinage reform of 1993.

Recorded mintage: 60,000,000.

Specification: 4.50 g, aluminum bronze, 23 mm diameter.

Catalog reference: KM 104.1.
