This specimen was lot 46166 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Costa Mesa, CA, August 2021), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "URUGUAY. 1/4 Gaucho, 1992. NGC PROOF-66 Ultra Cameo. A brilliant Proof with hard mirrored fields and frosted cameo devices." This type, accompanied by a half and one gaucho, was struck 1992 only. Officals may have planned a more extensive series of bullion coins but no more were made.

Recorded mintage: 500 proofs.

Specification: 8.64 g, 0.900 fine gold, 18 mm diameter.
