This type was struck in 1989 at Paris. Uruguayan coinage was sporadic in the twentieth century and many issues are rare; this one is common. Uruguay fell victim to the same hyperinflation which befell her neighbors Argentina and Brazil and the coinage was reformed twice, in 1975 and 1994. This issue is accompanied by stainless steel one, ten, fifty, one hundred and two hundred pesos and a copper-nickel five hundred pesos.
Recorded mintage: 65,000,000.
Specification: 1.36 g, stainless steel, 15 mm diameter.
Catalog reference: KM 92.
