This type was struck in 1943 at Santiago, Chile. Uruguayan coinage was sporadic in the twentieth century and many issues are rare; this one is common. The 1917 commemorative is the last full size fifty centesimos. The subsequent issue of 1960 was copper-nickel.
Recorded mintage: 10,800,000.
Specification: 7 g, .700 fine silver, .162 troy oz ASW.
