This specimen was lot 72862 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2019), where it sold for $780. The catalog description[1] noted, "URUGUAY. 5 Centesimos, 1854/40. Montevideo Mint. Republic. PCGS MS-63 Brown. Thin planchet/coin alignment. A beautiful light chocolate brown hue adorns this deeply attractive example which is tied for finest at PCGS. Hints of the mint red can be seen on the periphery of the obverse, which has a satiny luster and clean surfaces. A specimen undoubtedly headed for the best of collections. From the Cerro Catedral Collection." This type was struck 1840, 1844 and 1854 and is rather scarce altho this is the most common of the three dates. It was probably made in Uruguay.
