Uri 1811 rappen
This specimen was lot 3661 in Sincona sale 64 (Zürich, June 2020), where it sold for 650 CHF (about US$815 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SWITZERLAND | Uri | misc, Rappen 1811, Bern. Selten. FDC. (canton of Uri, rappen of 1811, Bern mint. Rare, Uncirculated.)"
This rare issue was accompanied by half, one, two and four batzen, all from 1811. After being temporarily unified under Napoleon's Helvetic Republic, the cantons went their separate ways after the Congress of Vienna and issued a torrent of low value coins. Not until 1850 would a unified confederation mint her own coins and terminate the local issues.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: billon, this specimen 0.62 g.
