Unterwalden 1725 30 kreuzer
This specimen was lot 5397 in Sincona Auction 102 (Zürich, October 2025), where it sold for 5,250 CHF (about US$7,913 including buyers' fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"SCHWEIZ. Obwalden. 30 Kreuzer 1725, Sarnen. Eingefasst in eine einfache Kartusche, welche unten durch die Wertzahl 1/4 (Taler) geteilt wird, sechs Zeilen Schrift: MONETA / NOVA . REIP : / SVBSYLVANIÆ / . SVPERIORIS / « 30 K . / x 1725 x. Rv. BEATVS NICOL AVS VON FLVE Stehender Heiliger Niklaus von Flüe von vorne auf schraffiertem Grund. Die Rechte hält ein geschwungenes Obwaldnerwappen, die Linke stützt sich auf einen Stab und hält am Arm einen Rosenkranz. Schräg gerippter Rand mit Mittellinie. Sehr selten in dieser Erhaltung. Avers: Flaue Stellen. Gutes sehr schön. Exemplar der Slg. Kunzmann, Auktion SINCONA 53, Zürich, Oktober 2018, Los 6533. (Switzerland, half canton of Obwalden, thrity kreuzer of 1725, Sarnen mint. Obverse: Enclosed in a simple cartouche, divided at the bottom by the value ¼ (thaler), are six lines of text: MONETA / NOVA . REIP : / SVBSYLVANIÆ / . SVPERIORIS / « 30 K . / x 1725 x. Reverse: BEATVS NICOLAVS VON FLUE. Saint Nicholas of Flüe stands, facing forward, on a hatched background; his right hand holds a curved coat of arms of Obwalden, his left hand rests on a staff and holds a rosary. Obliquely ribbed edge with a central line. Very rare in this condition, Weakly struck areas, Good Very Fine.)"
The SCWC says this is a rare one year type; Numista mentions a 1726 issue.
