United States 1906-D 10 dollars
This specimen was lot 1878 in Jean Elsen sale 155 (Brussels, June 2023), where it sold for €750 (about US$983 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"ETATS-UNIS, AV 10 dollars, 1906 D. Nettoyé. Très Beau à Superbe. (United States, gold ten dollars of 1906, Denver mint. Cleaned, Very Fine - Extremely Fine.)"
This specimen is one of a type struck at the Denver mint 1906-07. Issues are also recorded from New Orleans (1841-60, 1879-1906), San Francisco (1854-89, 1892-1907), Philadelphia (1839-1907) and Carson City mint (1870-84, 1890-93). In 1866, the motto "In God We Trust" was added to the reverse. This date is fairly common.
