This issue is a late date of a type issued 1850-1907. The reverse was modified twice; first in 1867 to add the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" and second in 1877 to change "TWENTY D." to "TWENTY DOLLARS". The 1904 and the accompanying 1904-S are both common dates in all grades.

Specification: 33.43 g, 0.900 fine gold, reeded edge.
