United States 1885 half dollar

This issue is common for the type. This "with motto" variety was struck 1866-91. Arrows were added to the date 1873-74 to indicate a slight change to the weight, from 12.44 g to 12.5 g. The period 1879-90 saw a sequence of low mintage dates.

Specification: 12.5 g, 0.900 fine silver, .361 troy oz ASW, reeded edge, designed by Christian Gobrecht.
