The 1850-C Half Eagle comes in two major varieties: "Weak" and "Strong" mintmark varieties. The "Strong" mintmark variety is more difficult to locate, commands a significant premium, and is by far more popular with Charlotte gold collectors and specialists. This example is the "Strong" mintmark variety and displays deep, reddish-gold coloration over crusty patina.
