This specimen was lot 3816 in Goldberg sale 67 (Los Angeles, January 2012), where it sold for $695.75. The catalog description[1] noted, "Uganda. 100 Shillings, 1969. Visit of Pope Paul VI. National arms. Reverse: Pope and map. NGC graded Proof 68 Ultra Cameo." To honor the papal visit, coins were issued in ten, twenty, twenty-five, thirty, fifty and one hundred shillings, all NCLT's. Soon after, Uganda descended into the nightmare of Idi Amin's misrule.

Recorded mintage: 4,190 for 1969-70.

Specification: 13.82 g, 0.900 fine gold, .399 troy oz AGW.
