Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale, lot 72073

This specimen was lot 72073 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2021), where it sold for $1,980. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Tuscany. Pezza della Rosa, 1699. Leghorn Mint. Cosimo III de'Medici. NGC AU-55. Quite alluring and only lightly handled, this pleasing crown features a soft, gunmetal gray cabinet tone that is further accentuated by some hints of cobalt around the devices." This type was struck by the Medici Grand Duke of Tuscany for Livorno 1684, 1697-1718 and is rather expensive.
