Tuscany 1625 piastra Dav-4199
This specimen was lot 42588 in Stack's Bowers Summer 2026 Global Showcase Auction (Pittsburgh, September 2026), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "ITALY. Tuscany. Piastre, 1625/1623. Florence Mint. Ferdinand II. NGC EF Details--Environmental Damage. Although reverse is clearly environmentally damaged, the obverse still holds relatively decent detail. From the Heisner Collection from Down Under." This type was struck in 1625 and 1628. The date on the reverse, rather muddled by the pitting, is 1623; these are also known with 1620 or 1626 on the reverse. The SCWC catalogs this using the Davenport number.
