The first specimen was lot 31162 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $2,280. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ottoman Empire. Bayazid II (1481-1512) gold Sultani AH 886 (1481/2) XF45 ANACS, Istanbul (Constantinople) mint (in Turkey). Traces of die polish are amongst the only marks notable in the fields of this crisply-struck offering of this elusive and very rare sultan. Ex. Dr. Hans Wilski Collection." The second specimen was lot 31163 in Heritage sale 3064 (Chicago, April 2018), where it sold for $2,640. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ottoman Empire. Bayazid II (1481-1512) gold Sultani AH 886 (1481/2) XF40 ANACS, Serez mint (in Greece). A slightly clipped and bent example of this very rare issue replete with golden luster and remarkably clean fields. The holder incorrectly identifies the mint as Istanbul (Constantinople). Ex.
