Turkey AH 1327(2) 2 kurush
This specimen was lot 75820 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $85. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY. Ottoman Empire. 2 Kurush, AH 1327 Year 2 (1910/1). Istanbul (Constantinople) Mint. Mehmed (Muhammad) V. PCGS MS-64. One of the finer examples of the date that one is likely to encounter, this near-Gem provides an alluring array of pastel iridescence to enliven the fields." This type was struck years 1 thru 6 and is common. In year 7, the design was modified to add the honorific "el Ghazi" to the sultan's titles. The silver two kuruş was last issued to this standard in 1917.
