Turkey AH 1223(27) 6 kurush
This specimen was lot 75642 in Stack's Bowers May 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $149. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY. Ottoman Empire. 6 Kurush, AH 1223 Year 27 (1834). Istanbul (Constantinople) Mint. Mahmud II. NGC MS-64. Top pop; pop: 1." Turkish issues before the reform of 1839 are a mess of constantly changing denominations as the government attempted to debase its way out of perpetual bankruptcy. This type was struck during years 26-32 of Mahmud's reign. It is not listed as expensive but is very difficult to find nice; this example is typical in being weakly struck.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 11-13 g, 0.435 fine silver.
Catalog reference: KM-603.
