This specimen was lot 75812 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, February 2024), where it sold for $125. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY. Ottoman Empire. 30 Para, AH 1223 Year 18 (1825/6). Istanbul (Constantinople) Mint. Mahmud II. PCGS AU-58. Very nearly Mint State, this minor presents a good deal of brilliance remaining across the lightly toned surfaces." In general, thirty para made a zolota and forty para made a kuruş, altho frequent devaluations made a hash of the system. This type, included in the sixth issue, is listed for years 17-21 and is not supposed to come in Uncirculated. Ottoman coins were dated using regnal years; the reverse bears the date AH 1223 (= 1808 A.D.) and the regnal year 18 (AH 1240) = August 1824-August 1825).
