This specimen was lot 1865 in Steve Album Auction 54 (Santa Rosa, CA, January 2026), where it sold for $840. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY: Abdul Hamid I, 1774-1789, AV 1½ altin, Islambul, AH1187 year 3, pierced and removed from a bezel, ex Kenneth A. Bovenkamp Collection." This denomination was issued in various forms (KM 423, 424, 425, 426, 427) years 1 thru 16. These coins are scarce but many specimens do not realize their proper value. Nearly all the survivors are ex-jewelry and are either holed (as here) or mounted.
