Stack's Bowers 2025 NYINC sale, lot 39768

This specimen was lot 39768 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2025), where it sold for $240. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY. Ottoman Empire. Altmislik (2 Zolota), AH 1187 Year 12 (1784). Istanbul (Constantinople) Mint. Abdul Hamid I. PCGS MS-62." This specimen is from a series struck in Istanbul during the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid I (r. 1774-1789). This type was struck years 8 thru 13 and has a low catalog value. Most survivors are poorly struck and harshly cleaned and have little eye appeal.
