Steve Album sale 55, lot 1896

This specimen was lot 1896 in Steve Album Auction 55 (Santa Rosa, CA, May 2026), where it sold for $105. The catalog description[1] noted, "TURKEY: Abdul Hamid I, 1774-1789, AR 10 para (onluk), Kostantiniye, AH1187 year 12, unusual calligraphic style, perhaps local imitation, more likely a European production either as a forgery or an equipment presentation style, XF, ex Kenneth A. Bovenkamp Collection." This type was struck years 8 thru 16. Forty para made a kuruş. The earlier type (KM 383) lacks the rosette to the right of the toughra.
