This specimen was lot 33360 in Heritage sale 3073 (Chicago, April 2019), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[1] noted, "Ottoman Empire. Osman III gold 3 Altin AH 1168 Year 4 (1754/5) AU Detail (Plugged) PCGS, Islambul mint (in Turkey). Attractive despite the plug, a rare type. Ex Dr. Hans Wilski Collection." These large, thin gold coins, when they make one of their rare appearances, are nearly always holed or plugged. Another triple altin (KM 289), with plain rims, is recorded for this date.
