This specimen was lot 2462 in Sincona sale 59 (Zürich, October 2019), where it sold for 275 CHF (about US$333 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"TÜRKEI, Republik, seit 1923. Ziynet 25 Kurush 1927. Republikname unter Halbmond und Stern, Gründungsdatum in Zierfassung. Fast FDC. Wie immer gelocht. (republic of Turkey, since 1923, twenty-five kurush of 1927. Obverse: name of the republic under crescent moon and star; foundation date in ornament. About uncirculated, Holed as usual.)"

This type was struck 1927-28. Altho issued in the name of Ataturk's republic, this 25 kurush matches the old Ottoman monnaie de luxe 25 kurush in weight and style. Its large diameter and ornate design may be contrasted with the simultaneous circulation issue of 1926-29 (Fr-83).

Recorded mintage: 4,103.

Specification: 1.75 g, 0.917 fine gold, this specimen 1.79 g.

Catalog reference: KM 844. Fr-201 (formerly Fr-87).
