Sincona sale 31, lot 350

This specimen was lot 350 in Sincona sale 31 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 1,200 CHF (about US$1,425 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "REPUBLIC OF TUNISIA, 10 dinars 1963ce/1383ah AU Arabic legend Pf ." This type was struck in small numbers 1963-64 with Arabic and French legends (KM 359). It is unlikely to have circulated beyond the president's circle of cronies and supporters. It is rare.

Recorded mintage: 1,000 proofs.

Specification: 23.48 g, 0.900 fine gold, .689 troy oz AGW, 31 mm diameter, this specimen 23.49 g.
