Sincona sale 31, lot 290

This specimen was lot 290 in Sincona sale 31 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 300 CHF (about US$356 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted, "FRENCH PROTECTORATE | Reign of Muhammed al-Amin Bey (1362-1376ah/1943-1957ce). 10 francs 1956ce/1376ah AR Fdc." This type was struck 1956 only for presentation by the Bey, who had promoted himself to king. As such, the SCWC consigns it to the catalog of Unusual World Coins. This issue was struck to the standard of the French ten francs of 1929-39.
