Sincona sale 31, lot 284

This specimen was lot 284 in Sincona sale 31 (Zürich, October 2016), where it sold for 325 CHF (about US$386 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted, "FRENCH PROTECTORATE | Reign of Muhammed al-Amin Bey (1362-1376ah/1943-1957ce). 20 francs 1955ce/1355ah AR RR Fdc." This type was struck in small numbers 1945-55 for presentation by the Bey. As such, the SCWC consigns it to the catalog of Unusual World Coins. This issue was struck to the standard of the French twenty francs of 1935-36.
